FAQ

How can CRRISP benefit my business or project?

  • CRRISP provides you with an informed understanding of the challenges related to potential variations in availability and/or supply constraints. This deep comprehension allows you to strategically guide your improvement initiatives by identifying sustainable areas where innovative solutions or more sustainable alternatives could be implemented. In essence, CRRISP not only aids in a more resilient management of raw material risks but also supports a proactive approach in promoting sustainable practices, thereby contributing to the longevity of your operations while reducing their environmental impact.

How can I register?

  • To register, simply create an account by clicking on the tab located at the top right of the homepage, then select the subscription plan you wish to join. Once your account is created, you can import your inventories and start the CRRISP analysis with ease.

What types of inventories can I import for CRRISP analysis?

  • Four types of inventories are considered:
    • An inventory export from SIMAPRO software in Excel format, which involves conducting a life cycle inventory (LCI) analysis on the software beforehand.
    • An inventory export from Open LCA software in Excel format, which similarly involves conducting a life cycle inventory (LCI) analysis on the software beforehand.
    • The Excel file "Cut-off Cumulative LCI v3.9.1.xlsx" translates the Ecoinvent 3.9 database, which can be downloaded directly from the Ecoinvent website. (https://ecoquery.ecoinvent.org/3.9.1/cutoff/files). However, it is necessary to have a license to access it.

If you don't have access to life cycle assessment software, what should you do?

  • You can opt for the Ecoinvent inventory option. Initially, you need to download the Excel file "Cut-off Cumulative LCI v3.9.1.xlsx" directly from the Ecoinvent website (https://ecoquery.ecoinvent.org/3.9.1/cutoff/files ) Then, you should modify this file to keep only the sub-inventories starting from the 5th line that are relevant to the product you want to study. The life cycle inventory (LCI) work is thus conducted directly using the Ecoinvent database, without using LCA software.

What does the CRRISP method entail?

  • CRRISP has the capability to identify critical raw materials within the inventory you provide, along with their associated quantities. Using data from the European Commission on supply risks and SCRREEN data on annual mining production, CRRISP establishes two criticality indices for each quantity examined. The first index highlights the importance of individual supply, while the second index encompasses the overall issue related to each critical raw material. Results are then ranked in ascending order of importance, making it easy to identify materials with the highest significance.

If you have a question about a specific dataset you obtained through CRRISP, where can you get help?

  • Feel free to contact us by email using the address provided on the "CONTACT" page. We are here to address a variety of questions that users may have regarding the analysis of CRRISP results.

How to interpret the results of the CRRISP analysis?

  • The results are presented in the form of visuals accompanied by explanatory texts, which should help you interpret the outcomes. If you require a more detailed analysis of the results, as well as tailored solution proposals for the identified issues, please feel free to contact us via email using the address found on the "CONTACT" page.

How quickly can I expect to receive my results?

  • CRRISP takes just a few seconds to generate the visualizations and explanatory texts for analysis.

What should I do if the substance in my inventory is not recognized by CRRISP?

    • Either the nomenclature used by CRRISP is not the same as in your inventory, in which case you should add it manually on the page showing similar elements.
    • Either the substance is not included in the list of substances considered in CRRISP, in which case you can report the issue to the administrator so that the item can be added in a future version of CRRISP.

What documents will be available to me after I have performed an analysis?

  • By performing an analysis, you will have the ability to download at any time 4 chart images representing, respectively: the supply risk relative to economic importance, the supply risk, the components with the highest risk, and the overall impact of each material. The analysis also gives you access to an image containing all 4 charts, an EXCEL table, and a summary PDF.

I lost the analyses I had left. What happened?

  • The analyses are available for 2 years from the date of the last purchase made. Please reach out to us if you think this might be an error on our part.
